Founded in 1946, Union Sportive Internationale des Cheminots (USIC), with the avowed object of promoting Sports activities amongst the railway personnel of the different countries has become a symbol of sports fraternity. USIC at present comprises of 26 countries. All the members are from Europe except India. Indian Railways joined this august body in 1967 and has been a regular participant in selected disciplines since then.

USIC - the International Railway Sports Association consists of 26 national associations from Europe as well as India. It fulfils a role similar to that of the International Olympic Organisation and allocates international championships to countries on an application basis. The highest body within USIC is its Congress of all member countries which is held every two years.
