(RAILWAY BOARD)
| No.TCR/1394/2005/4
|
New Delhi, dated
20.04.2005 |
The General Managers (Comml)
All Indian Railways.
Sub: Revision in the permissible carrying capacity of
BCN/BCNA/BCNAHS wagons..
1.0 In terms of Board’s
letter No.TCR/1394/2003/11 dated 16.09.2004 (Rates Circular No.31 of
2004), the permissible carrying capacity was notified as 58.0 tonnes for
BCN wagons and 58.8 tonnes for BCNA/BCNAHS wagons. As per
rationalization of the freight structure and simplification of Goods
Tariff in the Railway Budget 2005-06, freight for all commodities is
being charged based upon the carrying capacity of wagons. Accordingly,
with effect from 01.04.2005, all "CC" commodities including bagged
commodities are being charged at 58.0 tonnes and 58.8 tonnes
respectively when loaded in these wagons.
2.0 The matter relating
to the permissible carrying capacity of the wagons has been under
consideration of the Board. Sanction of the Central Government is hereby
accorded to revise the permissible carrying capacity of BCN wagons as
60.0 tonnes, of BCNAHS wagons as 61.0 tonnes and of BCNA wagons as 63.0
tonnes for all types of "CC" commodities including bagged commodities.
3.0 For removal of
doubt, it is to clarify that if the actual weight of any commodity is
less than the permissible/enhanced carrying capacity of the wagon for
which the freight is charged, the freight for such a commodity will
deemed to be charged at a higher class or freight rate without actually
enhancing the classification for such a commodity.
4.0 This issues with
the approval of Finance Directorate in the Ministry of Railways.
5.0 These instructions
will come into force with effect from 27.04.2005.
6.0 These instructions
are also available on the Indian Railway’s website
