Addendum (2) to Rates Circular No.17 of 2005

 Sub:  Adjustments in Freight Rates effective from April 1, 2005 – Railway Budget 2005-06

1.0     Sanction of the Central Government is hereby accorded to add the following note and paragraph in the IRCA Goods Tariff No.44 Part-I (Vol.II) and in the Board’s letter of even number dated 23.03.2005 respectively.

1.1     Insert the following Note below the Main Commodity Head “Foodgrains & Pulses” at S.No.30  and Main Commodity Head “Oil Seeds” at S.No.58 of the IRCA Goods Tariff No.44 Part I (Vol.II): 

       “    *Note :- Husk of any of the above commodities will be charged at Class 90W2.”

1.2   Regarding wagonload classes for the three new special classes, insert  following para 3.11.1 below para 3.11 of Rates Circular No.17 of 2005 :

        “3.11.1 Wagon load freight for commodities classified under three new special Classes namely  90W3, 90W2 and  90W1 will be charged at 15% higher than the trainload freight in the respective classes.”

2.0            Accordingly, the classification for Gram Husk and Toor Husk will be Class 90W2 in supersession of classification issued vide Railway Board’s letter No.TCR/1078/2005/3 dated 13.04.2005.

3.0       It is to also clarify that dry chillies and turmeric will be charged under the Main Commodity Head “Groceries” at Class 90W1.

4.0       This Addendum to Rates Circular No.17 of 2005 is also available on Indian Railway’s official website www.indianrailways.gov.in. The circular can be accessed by opening the home page and clicking on ”Railway Board Directorates”, followed by clicking on “Traffic Commercial”, followed by clicking on “Freight Rate Circular.”         

5.0       This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate in the Ministry of Railways.

6.0       This instruction will come into force with effect from 15.05.2005.

7.0       Issue necessary instructions to all concerned and acknowledge receipt of this letter.
