In exercise of powers conferred under Rule 28 of Railway Protection Force Rules,
1987, read with Section 8 (2) of the Railway Protection Force Act, 1957 (as amended
in 1985), the Director General hereby issues the following directive:-

DIRECTIVE NO. 12

Sub:- Promotion of Head Constable (Fire extinguisher Fitter/Servicer) Gr.III to the rank of Head Constable (Fire extinguisher Fitter/Servicer) Gr.II of RPF Fire Branch.

In terms of the provisions contained in Scheduled-IV of the RPF Rules 1987 the following syllabus is prescribed for conduction the trade test for promotion of Head Constable (Fire extinguisher Fitter/Servicer) Gr.III to the rank of Head Constable (Fire extinguisher Fitter/Servicer) Gr.II of RPF Fire Branch.

Syllabus for promotion to Head-Constable Fire Extinguisher Fitter Grade-II.

(Scale Rs. 1200-30-1440-EB-30-1800)

1. Must be literate and be able to read and write English and Vernacular language.
2. Must be will conversant with the instructions in the use, maintenance of fire extinguishers and able to carry out standard periodical test of fire extinguishers used over the Railways.
3. Must be able to clean, overhaul (including hydraulic pressure test) and re-charge a fire extinguisher.
4. Must know the safety precautions to be taken.
5. Must be able to chip, file and scrape a surface and finish the face plate.
6. Must know tinning and soldering.
7. Must be able to carry out pressure and leakage test of fire extinguishers.
8. Must be able to carry out performance test as laid down in Indian Standard Specifications.

TEST

1. A practical test based on the above.
2. Any other similar test to be prescribed by the Trade Testing Officer.

EFFICIENCY BAR TEST

1. A more advanced practical test based on the above.
2. Any other similar test to be prescribed by the Trade Testing Officer.

The Directive will come in to force with immediate effect.
