Indian Railways desires to set-up new factories for the production of rolling stock (mainline diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, passenger coaches and wheel discs); and intends to consider and evaluate various development models including involvement of private sector under an appropriate framework.

In this context, Indian Railways welcomes views of industry players on possible development frameworks for such ventures in future. Interested parties may also furnish any information or material detailing features of technology / expertise in the production of such rolling stock, details of similar ventures undertaken in other countries, technology up-gradation and new developments initiated, etc.
